Softball Drops a Pair in Final Day of Houston County Invitational

The First Presbyterian Day School softball team (3-4) hit the diamond on Saturday, August 24, for its final two games of the Houston County Invitational.

The Lady Vikings dropped both contests, a 1-0 loss to Perry, followed by a 9-0 defeat to Jones County.

Below are notes and box scores from each game:

v. Jones County, L 9-0

  • Sumner Carlton was 1-for-2, singling in the third inning
  • Ashleigh Powers was the starting pitcher for FPD, allowing no runs
  • FPD committed two errors

at Perry, L 1-0

  • Carli Sutton recorded two of FPD’s three hits
  • Sutton threw six innings and allowed just one run, which was earned
  • FPD committed four errors

FPD returns to action on Monday, August 27, taking on Northside at 5:30 p.m. in the Lady Vikings’ 2013 home opener.
