Softball Drops Contest to Luella at HoCo. Invite

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team tied the game in the top of the sixth to force extra innings, but it was not enough to overcome a talented Luella High School squad as the Lady Vikings (3-2) dropped a close 2-1 decision on Friday afternoon, August 23 in eight innings.

Courtney Lawrence recorded the game-tying for FPD, but Luella bounced back in the bottom of the eighth for a walk-off win.

Carli Sutton (3-1) took the loss in the circle for the Lady Vikings despite another strong performance, scattering four hits on the day.

FPD’s later game scheduled for Friday night v. Bryan County was canceled due to inclement weather.

The Lady Vikings return to the diamond on Saturday, taking on Perry at 11 a.m. at Houston County High School, followed by an afternoon matchup against Jones County at Northside at 3 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while upholding the school’s mission statement to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory as a member of the Georgia High School Association.
