Sutton Tosses No-No as Softball Defeats Crawford County

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – Freshman pitcher Carli Sutton added to the short, yet successful history of First Presbyterian Day School softball on Wednesday night, August 21.

In just the third start of her career, the righty tossed a no-hitter for the Lady Vikings (3-1) as FPD rolled past the Crawford County High School Lady Eagles 8-0 at the Houston County Invitational.

Sutton’s (3-0) no-no is the sixth in FPD Fastpitch history on record. Jenna Byrd (class of 2013) is the most recent pitcher since Sutton to blank an opponent, doing so twice during the 2012 season.

FPD started the attack early against Crawford, scoring four runs in the first three innings of the game to help secure the win.

Mary Micah Lee, Jill Rogers, Maggie Renfroe, Caitlin Collins and Sutton combined for 11 of the 14 hits on the night en route to shutout.

Along with the no-hit-bid, Sutton was able to help out her own cause at the plate, driving in two runs in two at-bats.. Rogers had two RBI’s, respectively.

The complete team-effort was backed up by the defense, too, as the Lady Vikings did not account for any errors in the game.

Check on Thursday, August 22 for more details.

FPD returns to action at the Houston County Invitational on Friday, August 22, taking on Luella at 3:30 p.m. at Veterans followed by a trip back to Houston County High for a 7 p.m. matchup against Bryan County.
