Cross Country Finishes Strong at Berry College Clara Bowl

ROME, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys cross country teams opened the 2013 season with top-15 finishes at the Berry College Clara Bowl on Saturday, August 31.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vikings took seventh overall out of 24 schools in the 1A-4A pool.

Jessica Smith paced FPD, finishing at 20:36, which was good for an eighth place spot overall.

FPD followed that up with two top-30 finishes as Savannah Philips placed 28th (21:59) and Katie O’Quinn was 29th (22:04).

In the boys meet, the Vikings also had a strong performance, placing 13th out of 27 schools in 1A-4A.

Will Martin crossed the line first for the Vikings and 15th overall at 17:46.

Paul Young finished next for FPD at 18:38, good for 32nd, respectively.

The cross country teams return to action on Monday, September 2, participating in Macon’s annual Labor Day Road Race.

FPD’s return to official competition takes place on Saturday, September 7 at the Wesleyan Invitational.
