Football Falls at Pike County

ZEBULON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School football team struggled in its second game of the 2013 season, falling 30-0 to the Pike County Pirates on Friday night, Sept. 6.

After a scoreless first quarter that included a key goal-line stand from the Viking defense, the Pirates broke loose, scoring on a 5-yard run with 9:59 to play in the second quarter. The PAT failed, giving Pike a 6-0 lead.

The Pirates scored again with 2:52 to play in the first half when Jarrod Fuqua drilled a 21-yard field goal to give Pike County a 9-0 advantage.

Just over a minute later, the Pirates forced the Viking to punt and scored on a 46-yard pass from Tyler Gregory to Martigas Henley to give Pike County a 16-0 lead at halftime.

The Pirates added more insurance in the second half, scoring two touchdowns to seal the win.

The Vikings (0-2) have their scheduled open date on Sept. 13 and will return to action on Friday, Sept. 20 when Pace Academy visits George S. Johnson Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
