Softball Drops Region Game to GMC

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team had its eight-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night, falling 4-3 to region opponent GMC.

Jill Rogers tallied two doubles in the loss for the Lady Vikings. Carli Sutton and Lizzie Reed each had an RBI for FPD at the plate as well. Mary Micah Lee and Sumner Carlton had hits for FPD, respectively.

GMC’s Macy Watkins recorded the win in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs while freshman pitcher Carli Sutton (10-3) took the loss for FPD.

GMC led 4-0 after three innings, but the Lady Vikings rallied to pull within one run heading into the seventh inning.

After two walks to Emily Rutledge and Carlton, Bulldog reliever Dixie Raley struck out three consecutive batters to seal the win.

FPD (11-5, 1-1 Reg. 7A) takes the field again on Tuesday, Sept. 17, welcoming Twiggs County for a region matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
