Softball Recaps from Day 1 at Jefferson Davis Invite

HAZELHURST, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team took to the diamond on Friday night, September 6, playing two scheduled games, one against Taylor County and the other versus Appling County, in day one of the Jefferson Davis Invitational.

The Lady Vikings rolled to victory in its game against Taylor County, winning 16-1 in three innings.

Freshman pitcher Carli Sutton (6-2) picked up the win in the circle for FPD.

FPD pounded out 11 runs on six hits in the first inning to take the lead for good.

The Lady Vikings recorded doubles from Jill Rogers, Katherine Strickland and Caitlin Collins while Maggie Renfroe tripled in the run-ruled-game. Eight different players recorded a hit for FPD as well.

In the second game of the day, FPD defeated Appling County 9-5.

The Lady Vikings continued their strong hitting, scattering 11 hits.

Ashleigh Powers, Jill Rogers and Lizzie Reed each had two RBI’s for FPD while Caitlin Collins recorded the win in the circle.

FPD (7-4) returns to action on Saturday, with three games on the slate in the final day of the Jefferson Davis Invitational. Check the FPD softball schedule for a list of opponents and times.
