Girls Cross Country First, Boys Second at Mary Persons Invite

FORSYTH, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys cross country teams were in action on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1, competing at the Mary Persons Invite with both teams taking home top-5 finishes.

In the girls race, the Lady Vikings took first place for a second consecutive race, posting 46 points on the day.

Katie O’Quinn paced FPD in third place overall at 21:53. Jessica Smith took eighth place at 22:41 and Savannah Phillips notched a ninth place finish at 22:44. McKenzie Peterson had a strong showing as well, finishing in eleventh at 23:32.

The boys meet saw FPD post another quality finish, taking home fourth place out of nine teams with 124 points.

Will Martin crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 17:44 while Paul Young finished in eighth place at 18:49. Bryce Little finished in the top-30 at 20:03, respectively.

FPD returns to its running ways quickly, traveling to Cary, NC for the Great American Cross Country Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5. Check and the Sports Twitter feed throughout the weekend for updates.
