Softball Advances to Region Tournament Championship Game

GIBSON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team advanced to the GHSA Class-A Region 7 Tournament Championship game on Tuesday night after defeating Glascock County 5-3.

The win sets up the title game at GMC on Thursday at 6 p.m. as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Aquinas 8-0.

FPD scored two runs in the first inning and added one run in the second and third frames to help secure the win.

Courtney Lawrence drove in two RBI’s while Caitlin Collins and Jill Rogers each drove in one run, respectively.

Carli Sutton continued her strong season in the circle, garnering her 15th win and striking out five.

The Lady Vikings outhit Glascock 10-5 on the night despite committing five errors as a team.

FPD (18-7, 5-2 Reg. 7A) will look to avenge two regular season losses to GMC this year. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Vikings 4-3 on Sept. 12 and 5-1 on Sept. 24.
