Softball Drops Close Game at Home to Rutland

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team fell 1-0 its non-region game against the Rutland Lady Hurricanes on Tuesday night, Oct. 1.

Rutland scored the game’s only run in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Brooke Stroud that plated Sky’lar Jones.

The Lady Vikings were out-hit 5-2 and committed three errors in the field.

FPD pitcher Carli Sutton (12-5) recorded three strikeouts while Rutland pitcher Miranda Somers struck out 13.

FPD’s two hits came off the bat of Caitlin Collins, one in the second inning and the other in the seventh frame. The righty nearly missed home runs as both hits ricocheted off the left field fence.

The Lady Vikings (14-7, 3-2 Reg. 7A) will look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 2, traveling to play Peach County at 4:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while upholding the school’s mission statement to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory as a member of the Georgia High School Association.
