Softball Falls to GMC in Region Tourney Championship

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team dropped its GHSA Class-A Region 7 Tournament Championship game to the GMC Lady Bulldogs 3-2 on Thursday night, Oct. 10.

The Lady Vikings jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the third inning when Courtney Lawrence tripled home Jill Rogers and Caitlin Collins.

GMC responded with two runs in the fourth frame, both coming on an FPD defensive mishap.

The game would remain scoreless until the seventh inning, when GMC scored the game-winning run on a Lady Viking throwing error, their fourth of the game.

Both squads mustered three hits on the evening.

Dixie Raley picked up the win for GMC in the circle while Carli Sutton (15-6) took the loss.

The Lady Vikings will now await word from the GHSA on seeding for the State Tournament, set to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
