Softball Wins By Six at Peach County

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team won 7-1 on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 2, in a non-region game at Peach County to snap a two-game losing streak.

FPD’s offense scrapped together four hits to score seven runs, and forced Peach to commit three errors in the field.

The Lady Vikings scored six runs in the first three innings, highlighted by a Caitlin Collins double and Courtney Lawrence fielder’s choice in the third inning that plated two scores.

FPD’s two runs in the fourth inning came when Maggie Renfroe hit a sacrifice fly that scored Katie Culver. A few pitches later, Lizzie Reed picked up a run as well on stealing home.

Pitcher Carli Sutton (14-5) returned to her winning ways in the circle for FPD, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out five batters.

The Lady Vikings return to the diamond on Thursday, Oct. 3, in a scheduled home-doubleheader with Twiggs County at 4 p.m. and Aquinas at 6 p.m.

Senior Night 2013 will take place prior to FPD’s game vs. Aquinas.
