Competition Cheerleading Qualifies for State

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The FPD competition cheerleading team qualified for the GHSA Class-A State Competition after a seventh place finish at sectionals on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Columbus State University.

The Lady Vikings will now compete at the GHSA State Competition on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 15-16 at the Columbus Civic Center.

Competition cheer coach Jessica Murnan is proud of the team for their efforts.

“With the only team of 10, our girls went out there and performed great,” Murnan said. “It was definitely worthy and I’m so proud of them.”

Cheerleading coach Amy Kenney echoed those same sentiments.

“I’m happy for this squad for making it to the state cheerleading competition this year,” Kenney said. “They’ve fought hard through some injuries and bumps in the road but they’ve been working really hard all season. Their work definitely paid off.”
