Boys Hoops Falls to Central at Jones Co. Christmas Tourn.

GRAY, Ga. – The FPD boys basketball team (1-5) dropped its opening game of the Jones County Christmas Tournament on Thursday evening, falling 65-47 to the Central High School Chargers (5-1).

The loss puts FPD in the losers bracket, with a matchup scheduled against AAA Aiken High School (SC) on Friday, Dec. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Aiken fell on Thursday night to Jones County, 65-62.

The Vikings stuck with the Chargers for much for the first half. FPD led by two points after the first quarter and went into halftime trailing by three, 27-24.

In the second half, the Chargers outscored the Vikings 38-23, including an 18-11 run in the third quarter to seal the win.

Senior T.J. Sams paced the Vikings on offense, scoring 27 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Sophomore O’Showen Williams knocked in 12 points with seven assists and seven rebounds as well.

Central posted four players in double-figures, led by D.J. Hill’s 14 points.

FPD owned the advantage behind the arc, nailing five 3-pointers to Central’s one.
