Boys First, Girls Second at Georgia College Meet

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The FPD boys swimming team took first while the girls finished second on Wednesday, Dec. 4 in a meet at Georgia College.

The Vikings posted a whopping 515 points en route to the victory. The nearest competitor was Harris County with 391 points.

Paul Young posted a first place mark in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:39.

The Vikings were also well-represented in the in the 50-yard freestyle, taking the top three spots, led by 25.68 time of Connor Bridges, followed by Ru Yi Marone (25.70) and James Collins (26.32).

Senior Gerald Johnson won the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, respectively, finishing with a blazing time of 5:28, nearly two minutes ahead of his competitor in the 500-yard event.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vikings posted 249 points for a second place finish behind Harris County.

Caroline Hague took fifth place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 32.26, while Elizabeth Moore clocked in at 33.32 in sixth.

FPD’s Alisha Napier and Mary Helen Douglas took sixth and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle, respectively.

The swim teams return to the water on Friday, Dec. 6, hosting a meet at the Northside Pool at 7 p.m.
