Girls Hoops Downed by Brookstone

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The FPD girls basketball team (0-2) dropped its second road contest of the year, a 51-41 defeat to the Brookstone Lady Cougars at Illges Gymnasium.

Freshman Kate Patterson paced the lady Vikings in scoring for the second consecutive game with 16 points while senior Savannah Phillips netted 13 points in the loss.

FPD trailed by just one point at the end of the first quarter at 9-8, but 28-16 run for the Lady Cougars over the next two quarters propelled Brookstone to the win.

Brookstone’s Meshia Thomas dropped in 17 points to pace all scorers on the night and Rachel Moore secured 11 points, respectively.

Brookstone held the advantage from downtown, nailing three 3-pointers to FPD’s one.

The Lady Vikings return to action on Tuesday night, Dec. 10, welcoming the Houston County Lady Bears to the Middlebrooks Athletic Center for FPD’s home opener.

The Lady Bears most recently fell to Dublin 59-47 on Dec. 6.
