Boys Basketball Claims Second Straight, Beat Twiggs

MACON, Ga. – The FPD boys basketball team (3-16, 1-5 Reg. 7) won its second straight, defeating the Twiggs County Cobras 54-52 on Tuesday night, January 27 at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

Three Vikings scored in double-figures, led by senior T.J. Sams’ 19 points. Senior Taylor Burns knocked in 12 points while fellow senior Caleb Samuel chipped in with 11 points.

FPD trailed 16-13 at the end of the first quarter and 29-25 at halftime, but outscored the Cobras 29-23 in the second half, including a 19-13 mark in the fourth quarter to claim the win.

Cole Thomason put in seven points off the bench for FPD, respectively.

Twiggs County saw two players score in double-figures, led by the team-high 18 points from Macquannious Thorpe, all coming on six 3-pointers. Cortavious Ates scored 10 as well.

The win for FPD is their second consecutive victory, their longest winning streak of the year.

The Vikings return to action on Friday night, January 31, hosting the Wilkinson County Warriors at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center at 8:30 p.m.
