Boys Hoops Downed at HoCo. and Perry

Staff Reports

The FPD boys basketball team (1-11) fell to the Houston County Bears 70-64 on Friday night, Jan. 10 in Warner Robins and dropped its Saturday afternoon contest at Perry 67-40 on Jan. 11.

In Friday’s game at HoCo., the Vikings battled tough, hanging with the Beats for the majority of the match.

FPD trailed at the end of the first quarter 19-15 and at halftime 39-33.

The Bears came out in the third quarter hot, outscoring FPD 18-11 to lead 57-44 at the end of the period.

The Vikings punched back in the fourth frame, out-dueling the Bears 20-13, but it wasn’t enough to pull off the win.

Senior T.J. Sams scored 20 points to lead the Vikings. Senior Taylor Burns notched 16 points and sophomore Jacob Oates poured in 12 points in the loss.

The Bears accounted for three players in double figures, led by Amari Colbert’s 17 points.

With the win, Houston County takes the season series against the Vikings, previously defeating FPD at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center 57-52 on Dec. 10.

The Vikings return to the hardwood on Wednesday night, Jan. 15, traveling to play Wikinson County in a region-7 game at 7:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while upholding the school’s mission statement to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory.
