Football Releases 2014 Schedule

MACON, Ga. – The FPD football program and head coach Greg Moore released its schedule for the upcoming 2014 season on Friday, with a total of 11 games slated, 10 of which are regular season contests, for one of the most anticipated years in school history.

“We are excited about the new schedule for the new cycle,” Moore said. “It provides some great non-region competition on the front end and the return of some local rivalries that will certainly spark enough interest on their own.”

After a scrimmage against Central High School on Friday, August 15 at Henderson Stadium in Macon, the Vikings will open up the season hosting the Howard Huskies at home two weeks later on August 29.

Week two features a new opponent FPD hasn’t seen since moving into the GHSA, a non-region match-up against the Monticello High School Hurricanes at home on Sept. 12.

The Vikings will hit the road the first time in 2014 on Sept. 19, traveling to play the GMC Prep Bulldogs in Milledgeville followed by a road contest at Lincoln County on Sept. 26.

Three long rivalries will be renewed when FPD begins sub-region play on Friday, Oct. 3, hosting Stratford Academy.

FPD’s annual Homecoming game will be the following week on Oct. 10 when the Mt. de Sales Cavaliers come calling at George S. Johnson Stadium.

FPD will end its local rivalry stretch on Oct. 17 with a sub-region game at Tattnall Square Academy.

The Vikings return home on Oct. 24 to host the Wilkinson County Warriors on Senior Night before ending the season on the road with two games, a sub-region match at Twiggs County on Halloween and the Region 7 crossover game on Nov. 7.

If the Vikings were to qualify for GHSA postseason play, the playoffs would begin on Nov. 21.

“We think Viking Nation will be especially thrilled about the home schedule of games,” Moore said. “We are looking forward to a great season.”

Kickoff for all regular season and playoff games through the semifinals are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
