Girls Hoops Falls at Home to Perry

MACON, Ga. – After earning its first region win of the year at Hancock Central on Friday, the FPD girls basketball team (5-4) fell to the Perry Lady Panthers 31-27 on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 4, at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

FPD trailed 22-15 at the half, but a strong defensive effort that saw the Lady Vikings hold the Lady Panthers to just two points in the third quarter.

Going into the fourth quarter down by a point, the Lady Vikings’ offense sputtered down the stretch, scoring four points in the fourth frame as Perry held on for the win.

Senior Savannah Phillips paced FPD in scoring with nine points on the day while freshman Kate Patterson netted seven.

Maya Wade led the Perry offensive attack with 11 points, the only players in double-figures.

The Lady Panthers held the advantage behind the arc as well, dropping in three 3-pointers to FPD’s one.

On Friday, FPD defeated Hancock Central in Sparta 51-41. Phillips dropped in a whopping 27 points in the victory.

The Lady Vikings return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 7, hosting Twiggs County in a region 7A contest at 6 p.m.
