Girls Hoops Takes Region Match Over GMC

MACON, Ga. – Three players scored in double-figures and the FPD Lady Vikings (7-6, 2-1 Reg. 7-A) rolled to a 57-23 region victory over the Georgia Military College Prep (GMC) Lady Bulldogs at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on Friday night, Jan. 17.

Senior Savannah Phillips scored 18 points, sophomore Sydney Reese 16 and senior Caroline Stroud 10 to lead the Lady Vikings to the win.

FPD jumped out to an early 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and padded its advantage to a 28-10 score at halftime.

The Lady Viking defense held the Lady Bulldogs to single digits in scoring in each quarter evidenced by the 11 combined steals from Reese (6) and Stroud (5).

Senior Lizzie Lisenby corralled nine rebounds in the winning effort as well.

Taylor Wooden paced GMC in scoring with six points, respectively.

The Lady Vikings return to action quickly, hosting Putnam County on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.
