Girls Hoops Wins Sixth Straight, Defeat Twiggs

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls basketball team (12-6, 5-1 Reg. 7) pushed its winning streak to six games, defeating the Twiggs County Lady Cobras 77-36 on Tuesday night, January 27, at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

Four Lady Vikings scored in double-figures for FPD, led by senior Savannah Phillips’ game-high 24 points. Freshman Kate Patterson and senior Lizzie Lisenby each poured in 15 points while freshman Bailey Ruble drained four 3-pointers for 12 points in the win.

FPD held the advantage at the end of the first quarter at 27-12 and held the Lady Cobras to single digits in scoring the remaining three frames.

The Lady Vikings hit five 3-pointers in the contest to Twiggs’ three.

With her 24 points, Phillips is just 54 points away from one-thousand points at FPD.

Nychelle Jones scored 13 points for the Lady Cobras and Jhimya knocked in 10, respectively.

The Lady Vikings return to action on Friday night, January 31, hosting Wilkinson County in a region-7 game at 7 p.m.

Wilco bested FPD 52-45 in Irwinton on Jan. 15.
