Boys Soccer Takes Day 1 of Viking Cup Over W. Laurens

MACON, Ga. – The FPD boys soccer team (1-0) faced off against West Laurens High School in its season opener as well as the first day of the Viking Cup, winning 4-0 behind a strong offensive performance.

The Vikings dropped in three goals in the first period of play to lead 3-0 at halftime.

All three of FPD’s goals in the first half were scored in the first 30 minutes of play for the Vikings.

Kevin Griggs scored two goals in the first half while Bradley Mullis added a score on a penalty kick in the first period. Mullis notched his second goal of the night in the second period.

Christian Moore was credited with one assist in the contest while Griggs accounted for two, respectively.

FPD outshot West Laurens 23-0 and keeper Matthew Feagin picked up the win in the net for the Vikings.

With the win, FPD will play Howard High School in Day 2 of the Viking Cup on Friday, February 21 at 6 p.m.
