Football’s Caleb Samuel to Sign with UNC on Wednesday

MACON, Ga. – National Signing Day brings about excitement all across the country as high school football players announce their decision on where they will play on Saturday afternoon.

Viking fans will have a reason to feel that same emotion as senior Caleb Samuel will sign a national letter of intent to play football at the University of North Carolina (UNC) on Wednesday, February 5 at 9:53 a.m. in the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on FPD’s campus.

Samuel competed as a two-way starter for the Vikings in 2013, on the offensive side as left tackle and on defense at the end position.

The future Tarheel racked up 43 total tackles, including five tackles for a loss and recorded four quarterback sacks.

The AP All-State Selection also caused one fumble and recovered a loose ball for FPD on the year.

A team captain, Samuel was selected as All-Middle Georgia by The Macon Telegraph and All-Region 7A by the GHSA.

The Vikings finished the 2013 season at 6-5 and advanced to the GHSA Class-A State Playoffs for a third consecutive season.
