Friar Tosses No-No, Baseball Wins Over Southwest

MACON, Ga. – The FPD baseball team (1-4) picked up its first win of the season on Thursday night, February 27, a 14-0 decision over the Southwest High School Patriots at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

Highlighting the win was FPD pitcher Kendall Friar (1-0), who tossed a no-hitter in the winning effort. Friar struck out five batters in the four innings he worked.

The Viking bats were hot early, scoring five runs in the second inning and seven runs in the third frame.

K.J. Spears provided some power for the Vikings, knocking a two-run home run over the left field fence in the third inning.

The offense wasn’t just limited to the long-ball for FPD as Jake Peavy, Will McCormick and John Gordon Thigpin each had two RBI’s on the night.

FPD returns to action quickly, traveling to Strong Rock on Friday, Feb. 28 for a game at 5 p.m.
