Girls Win, Boys Drop Season Finale at GMC

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The FPD girls and boys basketball teams were in action for the final time of the regular season on Tuesday night, February 4, taking on GMC Prep.

In the girls game, the Lady Vikings (14-7. 6-2 Reg. 7) rattled of a 40-36 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Savannah Phillips notched a game-high 16 points to lead the Lady Vikings to the win. Freshman Kate Patterson also made her presence known, knocking in 11 points.

With her 16 points score, Phillips is 9 points away from entering into the one-thousand point club at FPD.

In the boys game, the Vikings (3-17, 1-7) hung close, but eventually dropped a 52-46 decision to the Bulldogs.

T.J. Sams led the Vikings in scoring with 25 points while fellow senior Taylor Burns knocked in 14.

FPD led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter and by one at halftime at 23-22.

A back and forth contest in the second period saw the Bulldogs ahead late in the fourth quarter to hang on for the win.

GMC was led in scoring by Quintavious Brisco’s 15 points, respectively.

FPD will now compete in the GHSA Class-A Region-7 Tournament, set to begin on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 11-12.
