Baseball No-Hits Twiggs County, Win Third Straight

MACON, Ga. – A no-hitter is a rare feat in the game of baseball.

Two in one season is almost unheard of.

But the FPD baseball team (3-4) has accomplished just that, throwing two no-hitters so far this year, the latter a combined effort en route to a 13-1 victory over the Twiggs County Cobras on Tuesday night, March 4 at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

Sam Jones (1-1) picked up the win on the mound for FPD while Tyler Stubbs, Kevin Moreau and K.J. Spears aided in the no-hit bid. Altogether, Viking pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts and no walks.

FPD’s offense was also on fire all evening, scoring all 13 runs in the first four innings on seven hits.

K.J. Spears drove in two runs for FPD and six different players accounted for a hit. The Vikings also drew more walks (5) than strikeouts (4).

FPD’s last no-hitter was less than a week ago, a 14-0 victory over Southwest on Feb. 27.

After dropping its first four games of the season, the Vikings have won three straight.

FPD will put its winning streak on the line on Friday, March 7, hosting Wilkinson County at 5 p.m.
