Baseball Snags Road Win at Glascock

GIBSON, Ga. – The FPD baseball team (5-4) pushed its winning streak to five games on Tuesday night, March 11, defeating the Glascock County Panthers (2-5) 14-7 in seven innings.

Tyler Stubbs provided FPD’s offensive punch in the contest, racking up five RBI’s on a perfect 5-for-5 night at the dish.

The Vikings scored two runs in the first, three in the third and two more in fourth to lead 7-0.

But the Panthers roared back with six runs in the bottom half of the fourth to make it a slim 7-6 FPD advantage.

The Vikings bounced back, scoring six times in the top half of the fifth inning to seal the win.

Austin Cox (2-2) picked up the win on the mound for the Vikings, tossing three innings with six strikeouts. FPD used a total of five pitchers in the game, as Sam Jones, Kevin Moreau, Garrison Hotchkiss and K.J. Spears all saw time on the hill.

The game was full of miscues, however. FPD accounted for seven errors while Glascock tallied four mishaps. All of FPD’s seven runs allowed were of the unearned fashion.

Cox also helped his own cause with two RBI’s in the ballgame.

The Vikings will return to action on Friday night, March 14, hosting the Lincoln County Red Devils in a doubleheader at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5 p.m. while game two is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
