Baseball Takes Road Game at Strong Rock

McDONOUGH, Ga. – The FPD baseball team (2-4) won its second straight game on Friday night, February 28, claiming a 12-2 victory over the Strong Rock Christian School Patriots.

Down 1-0 after the first inning, the Viking bats came alive in the final four innings of the game to take the win.

FPD scored four runs in the fourth frame and never relinquished the lead.

Austin Cox picked up the win for the Vikings on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings and striking out three batters.

FPD’s approach at the plate paid off, drawing nine walks on the evening.

Will McCormick racked up four RBI’s for the Vikings on a 2-for-2 performance at the plate. Tyler Stubbs and Cox each had two RBI’s for FPD, respectively.

The win evened the season series against the Patriots as Strong Rock won 7-2 at FPD on Feb. 25.

The Vikings, who scored just 11 runs in their first four games, have now scored 26 runs over the last two contests.

FPD will look to continue its winning ways on Tuesday night, March 4, welcoming the Twiggs County Cobras to Ben Harden Memorial Field.

First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
