Boys Claim First, Girls Take Second at Home Track Meet

MACON, Ga. – The FPD track and field teams were in action on Tuesday afternoon, March 25, hosting the Viking Invitational #3 at the Dick Frame Track and Field Complex at George S. Johnson Stadium.

In the boys meet, the Vikings took home first place in the four-team event, totaling 97.5 points and defeat Jones County, Mary Persons and Howard.

Jonathan Raines finished first in multiple events, winning the 110M hurdles with a time of 15.94 seconds and the 200M dash at 23.54 seconds.

Paul Young carded first place in the 1600M run at 5:17.46 and Will Martin paced FPD in the 3200M run, finishing at 10:54.07.

Jam Morris bested the field in the long jump at 19-10 and Josh Miller finished first in the pole vault at 12-07.

Caleb Samuel saw success in the field events for FPD, winning the shot put with a toss of 44-05.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vikings took second place with 71.33 points, finishing just over a point behind overall meet winner Mary Persons (72.5).

Jessica Smith highlighted FPD’s day with a first place finish in the 1600M run, clocking in with a time of 5:49.67.

Katie O’Quinn led FPD’s distance team, taking first in the 3200M event at 12:39.83.

Savannah Phillips continued her stellar senior season in field events, winning the high jump with a leap of 5.00. Maggie Johnston claimed first in the discuss event, a throw of 92-11.

In the pole vault, Carson Dingler continued her successful young career, vaulting a 12.07.

The FPD track and field teams will return to action after the spring break holidays, hosting a meet on Wednesday, April 9 against Peach County and Savannah Christian at 4 p.m.
