Boys & Girls Soccer Earn Sweep at Pacelli

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The FPD boys and girls soccer teams hit the road on Friday night, March 14, to open region play, with the boys earning a 3-2 win on penalty kicks and the girls taking a 2-0 decision in the nightcap.

In the boys match, the Vikings (6-0-1, 1-0) battled back after a 2-0 deficit with two goals from Kevin Griggs in the second period to send the game into overtime.

Both squads battled to a draw at the end of extra time, forcing penalty kicks to decide the match.

Christian Moore, Bradley Mulis and Nicholas Farmer knocked in the PK’s and FPD held on for the victory, their third consecutive win.

A defensive battle all night, Pacelli held the advantage in shots by a slim margin of 4-3.

FPD keeper Matthew Feagin picked up two saves en route to his sixth win in the net this season.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings scored one goal in the first period and tacked on another in the second to earn a 2-0 win and push its winning streak to seven.

Jane Howell netted FPD’s first goal of the night off an assist from Brooke Wylie to give FPD a 1-0 advantage going into halftime.

In the second period, Maisyn Samples knocked in a goal sealing FPD’s win.

The Lady Vikings outshot Pacelli 21-0, respectively.

The soccer teams return to action quickly, taking on LaGrange High School Saturday evening, March 15.

Kickoff for the girls match is scheduled for 5 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7 p.m.
