Boys Track First, Girls Second at Viking Invitational #2

MACON, Ga. – The FPD boys and girls track teams hosted the Viking Invitational #2 on Wednesday afternoon, March 20, taking on Northside, Peach County, Howard and Hawkinsville.

In the boys meet, the Vikings posted their second win of the season, totaling 122 points on the day.

Jonathan Raines took first in the 200-meter dash, clocking in 22.72 seconds. Paul Young was the top finisher in the 1600-m run and Will Martin bested the competition in the 3200-m run.

Field events also saw the Vikings take home multiple first place finishes. Josh Miller won the pole vault, Jam Morris the long jump, Raines the triple jump and Caleb Samuel the shot put and discuss.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vikings tallied 79 points, finishing second next to Northside (145).

McKenzie Peterson took top honors in the 1600-m run at 6:11 while Katie O’Quinn stood alone in the 3200-m run at 12:45.

Savannah Phillips took first place in the 100-m and 300-m hurdles and high jump, respectively.

The track and field teams will return to competition on Tuesday, March 25, hosting Mary Persons High School at the Dick Frame Track & Field Complex at 4 p.m.
