Girls Soccer Takes First Game of Viking Cup Over Howard

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls soccer team (3-0) won its first round match of the 2014 Viking Cup, a 10-0 shutout over the Howard High School Lady Huskies on Saturday night, March 1.

Amy Morgan and Jane Howell each netted a hat trick (three goals) in the win.

Sara Robertson, Brooke Wylie, Maggie Johnston and Kate Patterson also got in on the scoring action for the Lady Vikings, dropping in one goal each.

Four of FPD’s 10 goals were assisted on the evening, with dimes credited to Maisyn Samples, Katey Griggs, Howell and Johnston.

The Lady Vikings led 6-0 at halftime and preserved the shutout in the second period while also punching in four goals.

FPD outshot Howard 22-1 and Megan Sparks picked up one save in the contest in the winning bid.

FPD will take on the winner of the West Laurens/Truetlen game in the semifinals of the Viking Cup on Friday, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. or on Saturday, March 8 at 9:30 a.m.
