Soccer Sweeps Putnam County at Home

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls and boys soccer teams hosted a doubleheader against the Putnam County Eagles on Tuesday night, March 11 with both squads earning wins.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings (6-0) won 10-0, highlighted by the four goals of Jane Howell.

Amy Morgan, Brooke Battson and Sara Robertson each netted two goals in the win for FPD as well.

The Lady Vikings tallied six assists on the night as well. Maisyn Samples paced the squad with two dimes, while Morgan, Battson, Kate Patterson and Laney Elliott each secured one.

FPD outshot Putnam 36-0, respectively.

In the boys match, the Vikings (5-0-1) stayed undefeated with an 8-0 win.

The victory is FPD’s second in a row.

Bradley Mullis netted two goals in the win, while Kevin Griggs, Cole Morton, Kelsey Smith, Christian Moore, Michael Oates and Landon Newberry notched one goal each.

The Vikings totaled three assists on the night as well, with one going to Griggs, Moore and Dane Wiggins.

FPD held the advantage on shots at 13-6. Viking keeper Matthew Feagin picked up six saves in the shutout bid, while Jarod Cornado snagged five saves for Putnam.

The Viking return to action on Friday, March 14, traveling to play at Pacelli to open up region play.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. for the boys game and 7:30 p.m. for the girls match.
