Baseball to Play April 19 Contest v. WRHS at Turner Field

MACON, Ga. – The FPD baseball team and head coach Jim Turner are pleased to announce a unique opportunity to play a regular season baseball game at Turner Field, the home of the Atlanta Braves, on Saturday, April 19, 2014 against Warner Robins High School.

Turner says the game is part of “High School Day,” at Turner Field, where various high school baseball teams will compete throughout the day.

First pitch for the FPD-Warner Robins game is slated for 1 p.m. and admission is free.

This will mark FPD’s second trip to the home of the Braves. FPD fell to Veterans last season 4-2.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that any baseball purist would savor,” Turner said. “All of our players are looking forward to the green grass, the blue skies, and the red dirt of Turner Field.”

In order to have the chance to play at the historic Atlanta venue, coaches and players are selling 2,500 tickets for the Braves.

To purchase tickets for a Braves game, contact Turner or one of the baseball players. Tickets are $6.

The FPD Ensemble will also be in attendance, singing the National Anthem before the game begins.

Originally built for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Turner Field was redesigned as an all-purpose baseball complex for the Atlanta Braves and opened its gates for its first season in 1997.

Turner Field has hosted the 2000 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and Home Run Derby, along with postseason baseball from 1997-2005, 2010, 2012, and 2013.
