Baseball Wins at GMC, Twiggs Next at Home

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Austin Cox tossed a complete game and the FPD baseball team (10-5, 7-1 Reg. 7) bested the Bulldogs of GMC 7-1 on Wednesday night to keep pace with Aquinas in the race for the Region-7 title.

Cox was magnificent on the hill, allowing one run while striking out 11 batters and scattering five hits.

FPD’s offense struck early in the contest to aid Cox’s effort, posting two runs in the first inning. The Vikings would never relinquish the lead.

The Vikings padded their 2-0 lead in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, posting five runs over those three frames.

Cox and Tyler Stubbs finished the night 2-for-4 at the dish. Will McCormick also held a hot bat, racking up three hits and two RBI’s.

The Vikings return to action quickly, hosting the Twiggs County Cobras on Thursday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

The game, originally scheduled to be played in Jeffersonville, was moved to FPD late Wednesday night.
