Track’s Carson Dingler Wins Atlanta Field Event Athlete of the Year

ATLANTA, Ga. – Freshman track star Carson Dingler added to her already impressive young resume on May 19, being selected as the Atlanta Track Club Field Event Athlete of the Year. She will be honored at a dinner on May 29 at the Westminster School.

“We are excited and proud for Carson,” head track coach April Cassell said. “What she has accomplished in her young career is truly remarkable as only a freshman.”

Dingler captured the GHSA Class-A State Title in pole vault at the state meet earlier in May by setting a new record for all classes at 12 feet 7 inches.

Cassell says Dingler’s work ethic is what sets her apart.

“She is always getting better,” Cassell said. “She is always working hard.”

Dingler also claimed top honors in pole vault at the Area-1 Private Meet in mid-April. She has competed and finished first in various events across the state and southeast, including a new national vault record of 12 feet 8 inches for her age group at the Birmingham Crossplex on Feb. 9.

Cassell says the honor for Dingler speaks highly of FPD’s track and field program overall.

“Some of our athletes continue to put FPD on the map,” Cassell said. “Athletes like Carson and Grace Tinkey keep continuing our tradition of excellence.”
