Baseball Puts Five on All-Middle Georgia Team

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Telegraph released its All-Middle Georgia GHSA Baseball Team on June 12 and five Vikings earned spots on the squad.

Highlighting the list were three first-team members K.J. Spears, Tyler Stubbs and Austin Cox.

Spears blasted opponents all season, hitting .488 with 20 RBI and scoring 41 runs while Stubbs, a junior, hit .430 with 35 RBI and 23 runs scored.

The junior Cox saw improvement on the hill in 2014, posting a 7-2 record with a 1.85 ERA.

Rounding out FPD’s All-Middle Georgia GHSA Baseball selections is junior Marshall Lyles and sophomore Will McCormick.

FPD’s last All-Middle Georgia Baseball Player of the Year was Tyler Gottlieb in 2004.

The Vikings (17-8) finished 2014 as the Class-A Region 7 Champions and advanced to the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs, falling to Calvary Day School in three games.
