GMC Downs Softball 8-2 in Seven

MACON, Ga. – The FPD softball team suffered its second consecutive loss on Tuesday evening, falling to the GMC Lady Bulldogs 8-2 in seven innings at the FPD Softball Complex.

The loss for the Lady Vikings marks the second game FPD has allowed eight or more runs in a game.

The Lady Bulldogs started the scoring early, plating two runs in the first inning when Dixie Raley doubled to bring home Karlie Harding and Kaley Harding.

GMC added another run in the third frame when Raley doubled again to score Karlie Harding.

Lady Bulldog pitcher Macy Watkins took the win in the circle, tossing seven innings and allowing two runs on five hits. FPD’s Carli Sutton (1-1) was tacked with the loss, allowing eight runs, the most of the 2014 season thus far.

GMC, who outhit FPD 11-5, posted five more runs in the seventh inning. FPD attempted to rally in the bottom half, scoring two runs on an Emily Rutledge single.

FPD will look to reverse its two game skid on Thursday night, hosting Peach County at 5:55 p.m. at the FPD Softball Complex.
