Softball Snags Win Over Norcross at Mill Creek

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The FPD softball team (3-2) picked up a 6-4 win over the Norcross High School Lady Blue Devils in its first game of the Mill Creek Tournament on Friday night.

The Lady Vikings scored all six runs in the first three innings to secure the win.

Courtney Lawrence and Lizzie Reed each had two RBI’s for FPD, who have now won two straight after dropping two games in a row earlier in the week.

Sumner Carlton was 2-for-3 for the Lady Vikings, driving in one run. She singled in the second and doubled in the third.

Carli Sutton (3-1) picked up the win in the circle, allowing four runs, two of which were earned, in the complete game effort. The righty struck out three and didn’t walk a batter on the night.

The Lady Blue Devils outhit FPD 10-7, but stranded six runners on base.

FPD’s late game of the evening featured a matchup against Winder-Barrow at 8 p.m. Results will be available Saturday morning, August 16.
