Boys First, Girls Second at Stratford Invitational

MACON, Ga. – The FPD boys cross country team posted a first place finish, while the girls took second at the Stratford Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 17.

The first and second place finish marks the highest of the 2014 season for both squads.

In the boys meet, the Viking posted 22 points to win by 13 over second-place Stratford. Mt. de Sales finished fourth with 49 points and Tattnall Square with 120, respectively.

Highlighting the day was FPD’s Bryce Little, who crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 19:32. Cooper Martin was third overall at 20:51 and Nicholas Farmer followed in fourth at 21:01.

FPD continued its success in the top-10 with Dylan Bridges clocking in at 21:06 in sixth place and Heyward Smith completing the 5K at 21:31, good for eighth.

The girls meet saw the Lady Vikings just miss out on a first place finish, posting 44 points, nine behind first-place Stratford, for second overall.

McKenzie Peterson was second overall at 23:54 and Brynna Wilson notched a spot in top-10 at eighth with a time of 26:37. Anna Claire Stietenroth rounded out the top-10 finishers for the Lady Vikings at tenth, crossing at 27:16.

The cross country teams are back to racing on Wednesday, Sept. 24, co-hosting the FPD/Warner Robins Invitational at the Georgia Children’s Home. All the action begins at 4:50 p.m.
