Football Ranks at No. 8 in Sept. 30 GHSA Power Ratings

THOMASTON, Ga. – The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) released the fourth edition of the Class-A Private Football Power Ratings on Tuesday, Sept. 30 with the FPD Vikings grabbing a spot at eighth overall. FPD has ranked in the top-10 three of the four weeks the power ratings have been published.

The ratings are used to determine the top-16 teams from Class-A public and private on a weekly basis. At season’s end, those teams advance to the GHSA State Playoffs.

FPD (3-1) ranks in with 12.75 points with wins over Howard, Monticello and GMC Prep to begin the season. Aquinas leads the list with 14.8 points.

According to the polls, the Vikings dropped four spots after last week’s 10-0 loss at Lincoln County. FPD was fourth heading into last week’s game.

FPD leads the overall series against Stratford 19-18-1 and captured a 27-6 win in 2009, the last time both school faced each other while members of the GISA.

Friday’s game is the first meeting in GHSA play between both squads.
