Football to No. 4 in Sept. 23 GHSA Power Ratings

THOMASTON, Ga. – The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) released the third edition of the Class-A Private Football Power Ratings on Tuesday, Sept. 23 with the FPD Vikings grabbing a spot at no. 4 overall.

The ratings are used to determine the top-16 teams from Class-A public and private on a weekly basis. At season’s end, those teams advance to the GHSA State Playoffs.

FPD (3-0) ranks in with 15.08 points with wins over Howard, Monticello and GMC Prep to begin the season. Landmark Christian leads the list with 15.46 points.

According to the polls, the Vikings dropped one spot after last week’s ranking of third.

The Vikings return to play on Friday, Sept. 26, traveling to Lincoln County High School, taking on the Red Devils in Lincolnton.

Kickoff is schedule for 7:30 p.m. at Buddy Bufford Field.

The Red Devils hung on for a 21-20 victory in Lincolnton in 2013 and lead the overall series 2-0 against the Vikings.
