Softball Still No. 3 in Sept. 23 GHSA Power Ratings

THOMASTON, Ga. – The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) released the third edition of the Class-A Private Softball Power Ratings on Tuesday, Sept. 23 with the FPD Lady Vikings ranking at third overall in the polls.

The ratings are used to determine the top-16 teams from Class-A public and private. At season’s end, those teams advance to the GHSA State Playoffs.

The Lady Vikings (17-6, 7-0 Reg. 7) are first in Region-7 play and have won 14 out of 15 games entering play on Sept. 23. FPD ranked in with 12.13 points and remains just over two points off the top spot held by Eagles Landing Christian (14.64). Prince Avenue is second at 13.56.

The Lady Vikings return to the diamond this week on Tuesday, Sept. 23, hosting the Tattnall Square Academy Lady Trojans at 5:55 p.m. FPD also hosts Twiggs County for Senior Night 2014 on Thursday, Sept. 25 in a double-header beginning at 4 p.m.

FPD bested Tattnall 3-2 in eight (8) innings on Sept. 4.

The Lady Vikings have locked up the regular season sub-region title, their fourth in the past five years since joining the GHSA in 2010.

Tattnall sits behind FPD in fourth place in the power ratings with 10.22 points.
