Volleyball Splits Opening Area Matches at Brookstone

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The FPD volleyball team began Area play on Tuesday night, Sept. 9, traveling to play the Brookstone Lady Cougars and the Central Talbotton Lady Hawks at Brookstone Gymnasium.

FPD’s first match of the night featured the Lady Vikings and Lady Cougars. FPD would drop the match in two games 21-25/13-25 to open with a loss.

Abigail Pierce led FPD with five kills while Mackenzie Johnson posted four kills and three digs.

The Lady Vikings found better times in their final match of the evening, defeating the Lady Hawks of Central Talbotton in two games 25-6/25-9.

Pierce was hot again, knocking in two aces to go along with six kills. Kirsten Beach also netted three kills in the match.

FPD (9-13, 1-1) returns to play on Thursday, Sept. 11, traveling to Strong Rock Christian School in Locust Grove for matches against the Lady Patriots at 5:30 p.m. and the Woodland High Lady Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m.
