Weather Strikes Out Softball at Day 1 of Jeff Davis Tourney

MACON, Ga. – FPD head softball coach Jim Turner came into this week knowing his Lady Vikings would be tested. A planned seven games over a four day period will test the wills of any coach and team.

Now Turner can drop that total number to four games after Friday’s opening double-header at the Jefferson Davis Tournament was canceled due to lightning and severe weather.

According to tournament officials, games scheduled on Friday will not be made up.

The Lady Vikings will complete the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6, partaking in three games starting with the host Jeff Davis at 11:45 a.m. FPD rounds out the day with a match against Metter at 1:30 p.m. followed by a game against Bacon County at 5 p.m.

The Lady Vikings (7-5, 4-0 Reg. 7) most recently defeated region-rival Tattnall Square Academy 3-2 in extra innings on Thursday, Sept. 4.
