Boys Take First, Girls Third at MDS Meet at Cavalier Fields

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys and girls cross country teams raced to top finishes at the Mt. de Sales Meet at Cavalier Fields on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 15 with the Vikings taking first overall and the Lady Vikings posting a third place finish.

In the boys meet, the Vikings claimed their second first-place finish of 2014 with 35 total points. FPD’s prior win came at the Stratford Invitational on Sept. 17.

Will Martin crossed the finish line in first place overall with a time of 18:08. Following his footsteps was teammate Bryce Little in second place at 18:28.

In the girls race, the Lady Vikings finished with 51 points and were paced by McKenzie Peterson’s third place mark of 21:21 while Brynna Wilson finished seventh at 24:02. Both posted times were personal bests.

The cross country teams return to racing on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Last Chance Meet at Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Ga. The competition is the final regular season meet before the GHSA Class-A Area 1 Private Meet on Oct. 29.

The first race at the Last Chance Meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start for the boys while the girls begin at 10:30 a.m. It’s also the course that hosts the GHSA State Championships on Nov. 7-8.
