Softball Still No. 3 in Oct. 14 GHSA Class-A Power Ratings

THOMASTON, Ga. – The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) released the sixth and final edition of the Class-A Private Softball Power Ratings on Tuesday, Oct. 14 with the FPD Lady Vikings ranking at third overall in the polls for a sixth consecutive week.

The ratings are used to determine the Top-16 teams from Class-A Public and Private. At season’s end, those teams advance to the GHSA State Playoffs.

The Lady Vikings (21-7, 11-1 Reg. 7) finished the 2014 season as the Class-A Region-7 Champions by winning the Region Tournament Championship 4-3 over Tattnall on Thursday, Oct. 9.

First in the power ratings belongs to Eagle’s Landing Christian (17.86 points, 25-6 record) while second is Prince Avenue (17.05 points, 26-3 record).

The Lady Vikings return to the diamond on Wednesday-Thursday, Oct. 22-23 for the first round of the GHSA Class-A Private State Playoffs. FPD guaranteed a first round home series by winning the region championship last week. Opponent and time will be determined in the coming days.

Schools will have until noon on Wednesday, Oct. 15 to file power rating appeals with the GHSA. The GHSA will then release the official state tournament bracket the same day later in the afternoon.
