Will Martin Takes MileSplit Runner of the Week for Week 6

MACON, Ga. – FPD junior cross country runner Will Martin has been named the “Georgia MileSplit Runner of the Week” for Week 6, announced Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The award is given to the top runners in all classifications (1A-6A) for performances in competitions of the prior week.

Martin earned his second “Runner of the Week” award from Ga. MileSplit. He picked up the same honor in Week 3 on Sept. 16.

He has finished first place twice in 2014, the most recent a 16:57 performance at the FPD/WRHS Run Wild Invitational at the Georgia Children’s Home on Sept. 24. His other victory came at the Wesleyan Invitational on Sept. 13.

“We are proud of Will,” head coach Shane Hall said. “He keeps getting better and understands what it takes to win on this stage. Our entire team benefits because of him.”

The boys cross country team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, running in the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, NC at 8 a.m.
