Boys 8th, Girls 16th at GHSA State Meet in Carrollton

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Saturday’s GHSA Class-A State Cross Country Meet brought an end to the 2014 season for the FPD cross country teams, with the Vikings garnering an eighth place finish and the Lady Vikings taking 16th on the day.

In the boys meet, the Vikings finished with 194 points and were led by the seventh place finish of Will Martin (17:49). Bryce Little took 16th overall, clocking in at 18:22.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vikings placed 16th with 386 points, led by McKenzie Peterson’s 26th overall mark of 22:13.

The 2014 season was a memorable one for both the Vikings and Lady Vikings.

The boys program captured their fifth straight Area Championship in late October at the Georgia Children’s Home and the girls finished fourth to advance to the Class-A State Meet for a fifth consecutive season.

The Vikings graduate six seniors (Nathaniel Carter, Stephen Dance, Brooks Hanson, Griffin Hicks, Bryce Little and Cole Morton) while the Lady Vikings bid farewell to two seniors (McKenzie Bakkar and Sydney Wheeler).
